At every level of the community, Northwest
Missouri State University is an intricate
part of Maryville's intellectual, cultural,
recreational and economic life. University
professors, administrators and students are
involved in numerous activities throughout
our community. They serve on advisory boards
for the city, as well as the Maryville City
Council, they work closely with area businesses
and enhance public school programs.
Northwest Missouri State University is known
as the Electronic Campus, as every residence
hall room and faculty office has its own networked
computer. Northwest is the first campus in
the nation to have a comprehensive computer
system of this kind and the program continues
to expand.
With an enrollment of over 6,500, Northwest
offers courses in a balanced selection of
degree opportunities and is committed to providing
the ideal learning environment. Northwest
also features the Missouri Academy, an accelerated
residential program for Missouri high school-age
students academically talented in science
and math.
The Academy offers an opportunity for exceptional
students to live and work in a community of
peers while earning college credits and a
high school diploma. The two-year program
of college coursework is tailored to individual
abilities and taught by Northwest faculty.
If a true measurement of a community is what
it invests in its children, then Maryville
and Nodaway County stand tall.
