The historic Nodaway County Courthouse (built in 1882) is located on the downtown square and is surrounded by antique and craft stores, jewelers, florists, video shops, styling salons, unique specialty shops and traditional services that give friendly, helpful service perfect for your shopping destination. Maryville is also home to Northwest Missouri State University.

If you are looking for entertainment, let Maryville be your focal point. With the Mary Linn Performing Arts Center, on the campus of Northwest Missouri State University, showcasing some of the best traveling theatre and local performances. It has also brought nationally known comedians, singers, dancers, and speakers to perform throughout the year.

Also taking place in and around Maryville are The Business and Professional Women's Craft Show, Ravenwood Barn Door Opry, Ed Phillips Memorial Rodeo, Nodaway Community Theatre Company performances, the Chamber of Commerce Auto Show, and the Nodaway County Fair.
