SUMMARY:Music Program at Nodaway County Historical Museum
DESCRIPTION:Tony Brown will present a music program at the Nodaway\nCounty Historical Society Museum on Sunday\, April 30 at 2:00 p.m. The program is free\; donations are\nwelcome. This will be Tony Brown s 3rd\nmusical show to support the museum\, the first two brought in enthusiastic\ncrowds in recent years. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nTony Brown said\, I hope lots of people come and\, more\nimportantly\, have a really good time. One of the best things in the world\, for\nme\, is to share my love of old-time music\, tunes that tell a story and open a\nwindow on an America that\, in many ways no longer exists. In that sense\,\nworking with the Historical Society is a really good fit for the kind of stuff\nI do."\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe show is free\, but Tony emphasized that the main\nreason for the event is to raise money for the museum.\n\n\n\n"Don't come with an empty wallet\," he said.\n"This is the kind of show -- if I do say so myself -- that usually isn't\nfree\, and I generally don't work for free. But the Historical Society does\ngreat work in seeking to preserve the past and tell stories about who we are in\nnorth Missouri\, where we came from\, and what we have done. This is an important\ntask\, and it's not cheap. So come and enjoy the tunes\, relax and 'sit a spell\,'\nbut please be generous and help support this important local institution."\n\n\n\n \n\nTony will be joined by a couple of very special guests.\nJesse Graber\, fiddle and mandolin\, and Steve Goeke\, banjo and guitar\, who are\ntwo of the finest Southern string music-style players in Kansas City and have\nagreed to show up to sing and pick with Tony\, who said\, I think folks will be\namazed by the virtuosity and showmanship displayed by both these fine\nmusicians. \n\nCome to the museum at 110 N. Walnut for some traditional\nfolk music\, plus whatever else the men decide to play. Refreshments will be served and the museum s\nexhibits may be viewed following the program. Regular museum hours are 1 to 4\,\nTuesdays through Fridays and other days by appointment.
