DESCRIPTION:Many changes\nhave happened around the square in Maryville since the town was settled in\n1845. Location of the courthouse\,\nbuilding materials used\, and the types of shops available are just a few of the\ndifferences. According to an 1868\naccount of a newcomer stepping off the stage coach in town\, the empty lot at\nthe southwest corner of the intersection of Third and Main Streets was a\nchicken coop. \n\n\n\n  At 2pm\,\nSunday\, August 20\, Tom Carneal will be presenting a program on the changes\naround the courthouse square. The program will be held at the Nodaway County\nHistorical Society Museum\, at 110 North Walnut Street\, Maryville MO.  Please\njoin us and add your memories of the businesses that lined the courthouse\nsquare.   The program is free\; donations\nare always welcome. Museum hours are\nTuesdays through Fridays\, 1:00 to 4:00 and other days by appointment.
