A holiday event has become a tradition at the Nodaway County Historical Society Museum, 110 N. Walnut in Maryville MO. On Saturday, December 3, from 9 a.m. till 3 p.m., there will be a coffee shop featuring coffee, tea, hot chocolate and cinnamon rolls in a holiday atmosphere. After visiting with your friends there and viewing the exhibits, check out the treats offered in a bake sale to support the museum’s expenses. There will be a variety of cookies, brownies, fudge and other baked goods from which to choose. A table will be set up with many books, most by local authors, for sale as well note cards and other items you may want for your holiday shopping.
There is never a charge for touring the museum, but donations are always welcome since the museum receives no tax funding. The museum will be open at the regular hours of 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. each Tuesday through Friday until December 4, when it will close for the winter to save on utilities. The museum will reopen in March. There will also be one special evening event on Wed., Dec. 7, when the NWMSU Public History class of Dr. Elyssa Ford will present the new military exhibit which they have created. The public is invited to attend this event from 6:00 to 8:00 that evening. There will be a short program at 6 pm, and people can come at any time between 6-8pm to see the exhibit. This will be on the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, and one exhibit will feature that event and its ties to Nodaway County while the other displays will feature other parts of military history in the Nodaway County.
Come join us for these events. Call Melissa Middleswart at 660-582-8687 with any questions.
