Elizabeth Huerta, graduate student at Northwest Missouri State University, will be presenting her paper, The Case of McLaughlin and H.F. Felix and the Illegal Activities of the Plattsburg Land Office to the public at the Nodaway County Historical Society Museum., located at 110 N. Walnut St., Maryville MO. The presentation will start at 2 pm, Sunday, September 20. The Irish Catholics came from the east because of differences of opinions between sections of the different nationalities within the congregations. Upon arriving in the Tri-C area of Nodaway County, there was difficulty in obtaining title to the land.
Refreshments will be provided. For further questions, please call the museum at 660-582-8176. There is no admission fee, however, donations are always welcome at the museum, which has no tax support and is run on donations by volunteers. Museum hours are 1:00 to 4:00 Tuesdays through Fridays and other days by appointment.
