The Nodaway County Historical Society will host a Movie Memories and Songs of the Past program at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 15 at the museum at 110 N. Walnut St. in Maryville. Sandy Cook Messner and Jim Cook, grandchildren of C.E. (Doc) Cook and children of James E. Cook, the owners of the Tivoli and the Dude Ranch Drive-In Theaters, will present the program. After an introduction telling about early entertainment and other theaters in Maryville and Nodaway County, Sandy and Jim will share some of their memories about growing up in the theater family. They will tell of the rich history of the theaters located in Maryville. Numerous movie posters, pictures and other memorabilia will be on display.
Come join us to learn more about the hey-day of the theaters in Maryville and share your memories. The historical society is always interested in obtaining photos, or scans of photos relating to any aspect of life in the county. Admission is free, donations are welcome.
