Presentatoin entitled: The Panama Canal Transition: From US to Panamanian Ownership", presented by Joe Cornelison.
Cornelison, native Maryvillian, was appointed United States Deputy Administrator of the Panama Canal Commission (PCC), 1995 to 1999, when it was released into Panama hands.
His wife, Elita Cornelison, is the granddaughter of Dr. Aristies Quinero, the founding father of the Republic of Panama and a signer of its constitution. He was a Panamanian government dignitary who, with U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt, participated in the inaugural transit of the Panama Canal.
