“We are grateful for the opportunity to continue our partnership with the Maryville Chamber of Commerce by offering these engaging professional development opportunities to those in the community,” Northwest Coordinator of Student Employment Paula McLain said. “It is a wonderful opportunity for our students and staff to learn alongside other professionals in the community. This fall we have an exciting roster of presenters that will provide engaging presentations on topics relevant to all.”Each presentation costs $25 for Maryville Chamber of Commerce members or $40 for non-members. The presentations are free to Northwest students and employees as part of the University’s Career Pathing program, which provides professional development opportunities to students interested in advancing to new levels of pay and responsibility. Emotional Intelligence: Get Off The Roller Coaster

Whirley teaches individuals how to get their emotions under control. In this interactive session, participants will laugh and learn about their emotions and how to calm down without someone saying “calm down!” Attendees will analyze their emotions by exploring what aggravates them and discuss how to manage obstacles so they can choose their emotions by being proactive, not reactive.
