Dementia Simulation
Partnering with Dr. Sue Myllykangas, CTRS of Northwest Missouri State University’sTherapeutic Recreation department, we will be conducting a dementia simulation toprovide families and caregivers a glimpse of what it is like to live with dementia.For the simulation, participants will be outfitted with adaptive equipment that willsimulate what it is like to live with dementia and then be given routine tasks to perform.The idea is to show caregivers what it’s really like to live with the disease and reinforcethat everyday tasks that are easy for most of us, are not at all easy for someone livingwith Alzheimer’s or another dementia related disease.Each simulation will take up to 15 minutes.
