Partnering with Dr. Sue Myllykangas, CTRS, of Northwest Missouri State University’s Therapeutic Recreation department, we will be conducting a dementia simulation to provide families and caregivers with a glimpse of what it is like to live with dementia. Participants will be outfitted with adaptive equipment that will simulate what a person living with dementia experiences and then be given routine tasks to perform. The idea is to show caregivers what it’s really like to live with the disease and reinforce that everyday tasks that are easy for most of us are not at all easy for someone living with Alzheimer’s or another dementia-related disease. Each simulation will take up to 15 minutes. Please call to reserve a time slot.
