Generational Differences - Bridging the Gap

Northwest Missouri State University, in conjunction with the Maryville Chamber of Commerce, invites students and employees, as well as the public, to a series of learning opportunities featuring presenters discussing workplace topics from engaging in difficult conversations and generational differences.

Six presentations are scheduled this fall for area professionals. Each presentation costs $25 for Maryville Chamber of Commerce members or $40 for non-members. Registration is available online at http://www.nwmissouri.edu/hr/trainingopps.htm.

The presentations are free to Northwest students and employees as part of the University’s Career Pathing program, which provides professional development opportunities to students interested in advancing to new levels of pay and responsibility.

All presentations are 60 or 90 minutes long and take place in the J.W. Jones Student Union. More information about each session appears below.

“Generational Differences – Bridging the Gap”

Thursday, Dec. 1: 11 a.m., 2 p.m. or 3:30 p.m. (90 minutes)

This interactive, energetic and entertaining presentation will enable participants to recruit and manage top candidates by learning the differences between generations X, Y, Boomers, and Matures, and their work habits and goals. Candy will share her knowledge of gender differences to help participants understand there is a difference in communication and conflict management between genders.

The genetics portion of the presentation will expose four personality styles and how each personality contributes to the organization’s vision and goals. Learn which team members behavioral style works best with each job position. Learn how to keep performance high when morale is low during changing times in the organization. Understand how to motivate, communicate and negotiate with the Baby Boomers to the Baby Zs. Understand five key ideas about each generation and how to keep the Generation Ys from moving to the next job.
