Green Dot - Changing the Conversation About Violence

Northwest Missouri State University, in conjunction with the Maryville Chamber of Commerce, invites students and employees, as well as the public, to a series of learning opportunities featuring presenters discussing workplace topics from engaging in difficult conversations and generational differences.

Six presentations are scheduled this fall for area professionals. Each presentation costs $25 for Maryville Chamber of Commerce members or $40 for non-members. Registration is available online at http://www.nwmissouri.edu/hr/trainingopps.htm.

The presentations are free to Northwest students and employees as part of the University’s Career Pathing program, which provides professional development opportunities to students interested in advancing to new levels of pay and responsibility.

All presentations are 60 or 90 minutes long and take place in the J.W. Jones Student Union. More information about each session appears below.

Northwest is committed to preventing violence through Green Dot, a violence prevention initiative focused on reducing violence such as stalking, sexual assault and partner violence.

A green dot is any behavior, choice, word or attitude that interrupts violence or sends a message that violence is not okay. As a part of the Northwest community, people can help set the norm that violence is unacceptable and everyone is expected to do their part to keep the community safe. Identifying concerning behaviors that might indicate violence, unique ways to interrupt violence by drawing on strengths and personality, and how the Greed Dot approach could be beneficial and useful to developing as a professional, will be explored through this program.
