Labor Day Recital
Northwest Missouri State University music faculty will kick off a season of exciting performances at the University with a Labor Day trumpet recital.
Professor of Music Dr. William Richardson and accompanist Dr. Jiwon Choi will take the stage with Assistant Professor of Music Joseph Tomasso on clarinet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4, in the Charles Johnson Theater at the Olive DeLuce Fine Arts Building on the Northwest campus. The recital is free and open to the public.
“We are really excited for this performance,” Richardson said. “This concert features a wide variety of styles and musical moods. We get to introduce one of our outstanding new faculty members, Joseph Tomasso, who is a fantastic single and double reed performer. I’m confident that audiences will enjoy the concert experience.”
A member of the St. Joseph Symphony and the St. Joseph Big Band, Richardson also is assistant department chair of the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, where he teaches trumpet, directs the Northwest Jazz Ensemble and teaches various music courses.
Choi joined the Northwest music faculty last year after serving a graduate teaching assistantship at the University of Kansas. She also was a piano faculty member at the University of Kansas Community Music School.
Tomasso joins the Northwest faculty this fall from the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music in Ohio, where he was a member of the woodwind faculty.
