Maryville Community EMERGENCY Blood Drive
Community Blood Center (CBC) has announced a blood emergency and is asking for the community’s help to replenish the supply. Blood donors of all blood types are urged to respond. Blood donations have declined significantly due to the holidays, cold and flu season and extremely cold weather.
In addition, blood centers on the east coast that have been impacted by the winter storm are asking CBC for help. Currently, CBC’s low inventory does not allow the center to provide support.
To schedule an appointment for today go to Schedule An Appointment Donors are urged to visit savealifenow.org/blood or call 1-877-468-6844 to find a convenient date and location to donate. First-time donors are also welcomed.
“The need for blood never takes a holiday – hospital patients who rely on blood donations need us most now,” said David Graham, Executive Director at CBC. “We’re encouraging everyone who can to donate blood during this critical time.”
While all blood types are needed those with O-negative blood are strongly encouraged to donate. Individuals with type O-negative represent just seven percent of the population but they are especially needed because their blood can be transfused into anyone. Hospitals use O-negative blood in emergency room and trauma situations when there is no time for blood typing.Maryville Community EMERGENCY Blood D...Date and Time
