Theatre Northwest Presents - Bee-luther-hatchee Feb. 23-26
Publisher Shelita Burns is honored with a prestigious award earned from editing "Bee-luther-hatchee" - a highly successful autobiography of a reclusive 72-year-old African American woman, Libby Price. Shelita decides to surprise the author by presenting her with the award at the nursing home where Libby resides. The unexpected and controversial results of meeting the author challenge the audience with questions such as, “Who, if anyone, owns their ‘story’?” This play is intended for mature audiences.
Theatre Northwest will hold a talk-back after the show with the director and cast, intended to start a dialogue about identity, ownership, race, gender, oppression and disenfranchisement; supporting Northwest’s focus on diversity and social justice. The talk-back is open to all, regardless of show attendance.
“Bee-luther-hatchee” is directed by Dr. Joe Kreizinger and performed Feb. 23-26, in the Studio Theatre in the Ron Houston Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased ahead of time at the cashiering office on the first floor of the Administrative Building, by phone at 660.562.1321, or at the box office up to one hour before the performance.Theatre Northwest Presents - Bee-luth...Date and Time
