Archaeology Program at Nodaway County Museum
An early observance of Archaeology Month, which is September, will be held at the Nodaway County Historical Society Museum, 110 N. Walnut St., Maryville, MO on Sunday, August 14 at 2:00 p.m.
Bill Scott will present a program with slides on Life in a Native American Earth Lodge. Following the program, those attending are encouraged to view a new display of related items, including a mammoth tooth. This was recently donated to the historical society by Earl Seipel, who found it on the 102 River between Maryville and Pickering in the 1950s. Also, after the program, will be a time when the public is welcome to bring in artifacts and Scott will help to identify them.
The program is free, though donations are welcome. Refreshments with a Native American theme, popcorn and pumpkin bars, will be served. Call the museum at 660-582-8176 with any questions.
