On Sunday, October 15, at 2:00 p.m. the Nodaway County Historical Society will host a program given by Marla Burnsides on her family’s Native American heritage at the museum at 110 N. Walnut St., Maryville MO. This program was originally scheduled for September but due to illness on that date, it has been rescheduled.
Burnsides and her brother, Robert Keiffer will share stories of their grandmother and the time on the reservation near White Cloud, Kansas. The Ioway tribe was one of the first tribes to come through the Nodaway County area and Burnsides will also speak about that. This will be an interesting program for all ages, so the historical society welcomes everyone to this program, after which refreshments will be served.
The program is free; donations are always welcome. Museum hours are Tuesdays through Fridays, 1:00 to 4:00 and other days by appointment. Call the museum at 660-582-8176 with any questions.
